Vent, Tirol's mountaineering village lies at 1.900 m above sea level amidst a breathtaking landscape of mountains. In summer it's a paradise for hikers and climbers alike. Wonderful trails at high altitude, beautiful sunrises, valleys high up and surrounded by glaciers.

ÖTZI'S FINDING PLACE

"Ötzi" the Iceman was found at an altitude of 3,200m on 19 September 1991, and is the most ancient finding of a European hunter. This unique discovery gave fresh impetus to Alpine archeology within Similaun glacier and the Ötztal Alps. The 5,300-year old mummy was discovered by chance by a German couple hiking around in this area (3,200m, Tisenjoch saddle).

HOHLER STEIN

Hohler Stein area in close vicinity to Vent (2,050m) is an ancient hunters' and shepherds'' base dating back to the Stone Ages (8000-4000 BC). Archaeological findings prove that Vent was a hunting are even in 8000 BC.

ROFENHÖFE FARMS/SUSPENSION BRIDGE

The little hamlet of Rofen, located at the elevation of 2,013m, is the highest permanent settlement in the Eastern Alps.
