our environment is important to us
Staying true to our roots while moving with the times: at Alpenhotel Laurin in Hochgurgl, we combine traditional Tyrolean hospitality with forward-thinking innovations for your mountain holiday filled with relaxation, indulgence, adventure, and a deep connection to nature. Our grandfather already laid the foundation for our hotel back in 1963. Later, modern lift facilities were built, and well-maintained slopes were developed, providing you with easy access to the “Diamonds of the Alps”. Over the past few years, we have renovated several areas of the hotel. Nevertheless, our house has retained its typical Austrian charm that has surrounded it from the very beginning. To ensure that you can continue enjoying our natural surroundings for years to come, we have made significant investments in the sustainable transformation of our business.
Environmental protection is close to our hearts
Our home is characterized by majestic mountains, fragrant stone pine forests, blooming alpine meadows, and impressive glaciers. The Ötztal Nature Park offers fascinating insights into the alpine world – from high-altitude flora and fauna to exciting glacier research.
A special highlight is the Hohe Mut Info Point, where an interactive presentation brings the ever-present topic of glaciers to life. Visitors gain a deeper understanding of this sensitive ecosystem and the interconnections between nature, the environment, and research.
Immerse yourself in the untouched beauty of the Ötztal and experience nature with all your senses!
As one of the leading establishments in high-end three-star hospitality, we always strive to maintain the right balance between tradition and modernity, comfort and vision. We share our love of the natural and cultural landscape that surrounds our hotel and our desire to preserve and protect it with our employees, partners and guests. After all, it is not only the basis of our work, but also our home. That is why we have implemented the following measures:
- Heat production for the wellness area and part of our hot water through our local solar collector; the connected heat pump also operates the heating system and hot water treatment.
- E-charging stations for our guests with electricity from our solar collector
- Use of local foods (e.g. Tirol Milch, honey from the Zillertal, meat from Fleischhof Oberland) from a maximum distance of approx. 150 km to support the regional economy.
- Waste reduction through the purchase of items with refundable deposit or food with little packaging; clean separation and recycling of waste; our own ‘Königstalwasser’ (water from the private spring of the Hochgurgl hotels) partly replaces expensively produced mineral water.
- Electrical energy from our own solar collector (approx. 45%) and from local suppliers (100% sustainable production: hydropower, solar and wind energy)
- Use of local craftsmen and materials (wood, stone) for renovations - this minimises transport routes and strengthens local small businesses.
- Our grandfather was a founding member of the Ötztal transport company. We recommend our guests to arrive comfortably and environmentally friendly by bus and train.
