Hochgurgl at 2150 metres
Where other ski areas end,Hochgurgl is only just beginning.
Arrive, leave the car behind and enjoy your holiday. The Laurin sits at 2150 metres, right in the Gurgl ski area, surrounded by the 3000 metre peaks of the Ötztal Alps. The slopes and ski lifts are within easy walking distance, just 200 metres from the hotel. When you stay with us, you won´t need a car to go skiing.
Up here, winter stays longer. Plenty of snow, excellent conditions and a ski season that lasts well into April. Hochgurgl and Obergurgl together form the Gurgl ski area, with wide slopes, modern lifts and runs for every level. The Ski World Cup proves that things can get seriously fast here too: In Hochgurgl, the worlds best slalom skieres take to the course.
Hochgurgl is perfect for skiing, and so it the Laurin!
In 1840 it was mainly researchers and artists who were drawn to the far end of the Ötztal valley. From 1939 onwards, the first tourists began arriving in Gurgl. In the 1950s, the construction of the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road laid the foundations for Hochgurgl, a village right on the mountain.
What began back then has grown into one of the highest winter sports destinations in the Alps. Right at the heart of it: Laurin 2150, the Alpenhotel Hochgurgl, here since 1963 one of the first hotels in Hochgurgl
From Hochgurgl, ski down the valley run of the Hochgurgl I gondola. From there, the ski bus takes you on to Sölden and another skiarea is waiting for you. You can spend the whole day skiing there, all the way up to the glaciers.
And while you´re there, don´t miss 007 ELEMENTS, the James Bond experience at the Gaislachkogel. Even if you´re not a die-hard Bond fan, it´s absolutely worth a visit. It´s simply really cool. “Lässig” as we say in Austria.
Good to know: With a ski pass valid for 3 days or more, you automatically get the Ötztal Superskipass. This gives you access not only to Gurgl, but also to Sölden and the other ski areas in Ötztal. The ski bus is included, as is night skiing in Hochgurgl and Obergurgl.
Hochgurgl in the morning, Sölden during the day and back to the Laurin 2150, the alpine hotel in Hochgurgl, in the evening.
A holiday in the Ötztal is the perfect opportunity to visit the Königstal, the Hohe Mut, and the Stuibenfall, the highest waterfall in Tyrol. There are plenty of shady spots in the Obergurgler Zirbenwald, where ancient Swiss stone pines over 300 years old grow. If the weather isn’t on your side, the Naturpark Haus in Längenfeld offers a glimpse into the diverse nature of the Ötztal.
